Holistic Roads - September 2006

Many are the companies that are already adopting holistic methods to do stress management. One of those methods is corporate massage. Companies are scheduling regular sessions for employees. Chair Massage provides a enormous stress relieve.

People working in offices know how difficult it is to work long hours in the same position or doing repetitive tasks. Lowe back, wrist, shoulder and neck pains are pretty common. Even health conditions like Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, nervous break downs and spine deviations are among professional office health conditions that are becoming more and more frequent. The best way to escape from this is to stop frequently and self exercise in way to keep good joint health. However that's not usually possible.

What is Chair Massage?

Chair Massage is the best way that companies have to prevent those conditions on their employees. Chair Massage sessions are short, very relaxing and don't get in the way of business. One of the common myth is that it get in the way and makes employees minds wonder off work. In my experience that happen on the first session and quickly vanish. Massage sessions then become usual and scheduled. Studies point to an 30% productivity increase in some cases.

Another myth is cost. Chair Massage sessions are not expensive and are swift. So the employee it's not occupied for a long time. Just 15 to 25 minutes and it's done. What the company earns in increased productivity pays off.

Chair Massage is a set of techniques that focus the upper part of the body. It is applied in a special chair and it's done in the client back, should, arms, lower back and neck (specially neck). In short term, helps reducing stress, neck pain, shoulder stiffness and pain and lower back pain. In long term help preventing stress, cardiovascular disease, nervous, circulatory and muscular health conditions.

Using Sleep as a therapy.

September 10th 2006 12:46
On my previous post I've shared a few thoughts about meditation. While meditation can be a conscious healing process, there are a few unconscious methods that can also be used. My personalfavorite is sleeping. Our body can accomplish a great level of self healing while sleeping. The brain "unplug" all the unneeded body routines, slows heart beat and breathing frequency. That allow energy to flow to places where is more needed.

Sleeping is a rather natural healing process. When your body is tired your feel the need to get some sleep. However, we can give a hand to help the healing process. By combiningseveral healing processes, we can maximize sleep healing power. For instance, we can use scented candles or aroma burning in the room while we sleep. If you get some pine aroma, you may enhance lung healing. I'll write a few words on aromatherapy in some other article.

Let's keep to the more "traditional" approach of sleeping. It's a plain simple process. You just lie down, relax and slowly you fall asleep. Different persons need different amount of sleep. Some need to sleep up to 12 hours, some will get by with 6. Actually, 6 is pretty much he minimum. You can sleep less, of course, but you are not allowing the body to regenerate himself. Instead you're forcing it to get in and out of the "regenerate mode". That can be almost asstressful as no sleep at all. At least every 3 nights you should get a decent full sleep of at least 8 hours. Give you body the chance to regenerate himself.

If you allow natural ways to heal and regenerate, you gain a lot more life quality. You may live longer and more healthy. Sleeping well is aproved way to prevent vascular and brain disease so people, it's not that hard. Just go and get some sleep!

Remember, cure is within yourself. Allow your body to heal and you'll live a happier life.

Almost 90% of the people that come to me, seeks a way to reduce stress. Stress is one of the most common origin of diseases but it remains pretty much unoticed. It is a global harm and everyone should be concern about it. It touches every single one of, causing digestive problems, insomnia, renal disease, depression and thousand of other conditions. The best way I know to release tension and stress is to meditate.

But beware that meditation is not as simples as it seems. Actually it's a process of self discovery and self conscience that leads to inner freedom. But, what is meditation. Everyone knows a prayer. It's rooted in our society. No matter what religion you advocate, there will be always a prayer. To pray is to speak with God and/or divinities. To meditate is to listen back.

Egoism along the centuries made us forget how to listen. The signs are all around us but still we pretend that we don't see. When someone start the process to learn how to meditate, start also to learn how to empty the mind of all thoughts. A clear mind will be ready to receive awarness. We become aware of our body, and aware that everything around us is connected. Energies blocked inside of us start to be release and as we continue to meditate the body will self heal.

Meditation is, in fact, the best way of self healing. You allow your body to repair himself and stop worrying about things for a while. We use too much energy thinking how to solve problems without even knowing if there is actually a problem. Learn how to calm down, how to focus on the things that need focus, how to meditate and your life will instantly improve.

Remember, cure is within yourself. Allow your body to heal and you'll live a happier life.
