Read this Article to know the most of the Home Remedies for Warts which are especially recommended by users. First we will discuss about Warts.

Warts are skin-coloured, uneven lumps (non-cancerous) on the skin. They mostly appear on the hands and feet. Their look depends on where they erupt on the body and how thick the skin is.

Thus, they are skin infections caused by viruses of the human papillomavirus (HPV) family. The HPV virus causes a hard protein called keratin in the top layer of the skin (the epidermis) to grow too much, producing the rough, hard texture of a wart.

They can affect any area of the body. Warts are usually painless with the exception of the warts on the soles of the feet.

Warts are more common in kids than in adults. They are usually painless and harmless, and often clear up by themselves, although treatment can help to get rid of them more quickly.

Types of warts include:

• common warts - mostly found on fingers, hands, knees, and elbows, where the skin has been broken. These are also called "seed" warts because the blood vessels to the wart produce black dots that look like seeds.

• filiform warts - these have a finger-like shape, are usually flesh-colored, and often grow on or around the mouth, eyes, or nose.

• flat warts - also called juvenile warts. They tend to grow in large numbers – 20 to 30 at a time. Most people who get flat warts have them on their faces, but they can also grow on arms, knees, or hands.

• plantar warts - found on the bottom of the foot (known as verruca). They can be very uncomfortable - like walking on a small stone.

• genital warts - sometimes called venereal warts, are contracted through sexual contact. They're spread by direct, skin-to-skin contact during vaginal, anal, or oral sex with an infected person.

Warts Symptoms:

Symptoms of common warts include:

1) Small, fleshy bumps

2) Flesh-colored or whitish, pink or tan

3) Rough to touch

Warts may occur singly or in clusters. They often contain one or more tiny black dots, which are sometimes called wart seeds, which are actually small, clotted blood vessels. Young adults and children appear to be affected most often.

Are warts contagious?

Yes. Warts are very contagious. The skin cells in warts release thousands of viruses, so close skin-to-skin contact can pass on the infection. It is also possible to get warts from using towels or other objects that were used by an infected person.

The time from the first contact with an infected person to the time the warts have grown large enough to be seen is often several months. The risk of catching hand, foot, or flat warts from another person is however small.

People with a weak immune system are more likely to get infected.
Often warts disappear on their own, although it may take many months, or even years, for the warts to go away. However, some warts won't go away on their own.

How to get rid of Warts

Warts need to be treated, as they can turn out to be inconvenient. They can bleed and cause pain, and can be awkward, if they grow on your face. Treatment decreases the chance that they will be spread to other areas of your body or to other people.

Warts are treated depending on the age of the patient and the type of wart.
Do not try any home remedies or over-the-counter drugs to remove warts on the genital area. One shouldn't treat warts on the face without taking advice from the doctor first.

Common warts in young children can be treated at home by applying salicylic acid gel or solution. Treatment should be stopped at least temporarily if the wart becomes sore.

For adults, cryotherapy (freezing) is preferred. Repeat treatments at intervals of one to three weeks are necessary.

Electrosurgery (burning) is another good alternative treatment.
Laser treatment is a recent technique used for stubborn warts that have not responded to other therapies.
In case of foot warts, the dermatologist may recommend a change in footwear to reduce pressure on the wart and ways to keep the foot dry since moisture tends to allow warts to spread.

If once treated, do warts recur?

Most of the time, treatment of warts on the skin is successful and the warts are permanently gone. The body's immune system usually gets rid of any tiny bits of wart that may have remained after a wart has been treated.

Genital warts are more dangerous as they are likely to come back. This is so, as there's no cure for the virus that causes them and because warts are more difficult to control in a moist environment.
Preventive steps to avoid getting warts or get rid of warts

To reduce the risk of getting a wart -

• Avoid touching other people’s warts.

• Do not scratch a wart as this may spread the infection to other parts of the body.

• Avoid sharing towels or other personal items with an infected person.

• Do not share shoes or socks with someone who has a foot wart.

• If you have a wart on your hand, you should wear gloves if you are using common equipment.

• To avoid genital warts, practice safe sex. Always use condoms. You can also avoid genital warts by having a monogamous sexual relationship with a partner known to be disease-free.

Home Remedies for Warts:

1) Grind some coriander to make a poultice of it. Apply this on the area of the moles. This will help in to get rid of warts.

2) One more very simple way to remove the moles is to apply the juice of onion onto the moles on a very regular basis.

3) Grind some cumin seeds and make a poultice of them. Apply this poultice on the mole, and tie it in place with the help of a cloth. This is very good for the moles that are bleeding. Doing this will definitely stop the blood oozing from the wound. In addition, the burning sensation of the mole, if any, will stop and even the most obstinate of moles can be removes by cumin seeds on regular application for a few weeks. This is very useful Home Remedy for Warts.

4) Apply the milky juice obtained from the trunk of the banyan tree. This is a very good remedy for the treatment of warts. You can get special benefits if you use the milky sap from the fresh green leaves of the tree.

5) Apply the juice of a fresh pineapple onto the warts. The warts will disappear within a few days of continuous application. You can apply the juice in the night and leave it on the skin while you sleep. Wash it off in the morning. You can alter the method by tying a pineapple slice on the skin instead of the pineapple juice. This is another effective Home Remedies for Warts.

6) Take a pinch of baking soda and moisten it with a couple of drops of castor oil. Dab this paste onto the mole. Leave it on overnight. Do this continuously for a few days. You will find that the moles have been removed over time. This is useful to get rid of warts.

7) Take a single clove of garlic. Cut it into two halves. Then place the garlic slice on the mole, such that the cut portion is in contact with the mole. Leave it overnight, tied with a cloth bandage. The sulfur-rich juices of the garlic will work on the mole. Within two or three days the mole will be gone. If you can place the garlic piece on the mole for a whole 24 hours, then the treatment will be much faster. This is very useful to get rid of warts.

8) Roast some peel of the pomegranate fruit. Mix an equal amount by weight of limejuice in it. Make a paste of the mixture. You can apply this paste on your skin problems such as warts, moles, blackheads, pimples, etc. You will definitely find good benefits. This is another good Home Remedy for Warts.

9) Take a fresh grapefruit and squeeze it to get its juice. Apply this juice to the moles repeatedly several times a day. This will ensure the removal of your moles within a month. This is also useful to get rid of warts.

Read this Article to know the most of the Home Remedies for Cough which are especially recommended by most of the users. First we will discuss about Cough and its causes

Cough is an important reflex action, which the body undertakes to get rid of substances that are irritating the air passages. A cough is usually initiated to clear a buildup of phlegm in the trachea, by forceful expulsion of air at high speed away from the body. You can choose to cough (a voluntary process), or our body may cough on its own (an involuntary process).

Cough can be of 2 types - acute and chronic. An acute cough is one that begins suddenly and is present for less than 3 weeks. They can be infectious (common cold, sinus, pneumonia), or non-infectious (asthma, bronchitis). Chronic coughs are present for more than 3 weeks. .

Some common causes of cough –

The cause of a cough is usually based on where it is originating from. However, the most common triggers of a cough include -

1) Allergies or asthma, chronic bronchitis

2) Common upper respiratory tract infections, resulting from the secretions of the nose and sinuses draining into the throat, such as in cases of sinus infections, chronic postnasal drip, diseases of the external ear, infections of the throat

3) Exposure to environmental pollutants such as cigarette smoke, dust, pollen, pet dander, industrial chemicals.

4) Smoking as well as exposure to second hand smoke.

5) Side-effects of certain medications

6) Chronic fluid build-up in the lungs.

7) Blockage of the airway due to an inhaled object such as food.

8) Gastroesophageal reflux is also a very common cause of cough. This occurs when acid from the stomach travels up the esophagus, resulting in the reflex production of a cough. This is often associated with a sensation of heartburn; and worsens during the day or when one lies flat on the back.

Symptoms of cough –

The symptoms of a chronic cough can be hard to assess, because many causes of chronic cough have overlapping signs and symptoms. Infact, a cough is an annoying symptom that can have many causes.

However, some common cough symptoms include –

1) Shortness of breath, as well as coughing up pink, frothy mucus – maybe the cause is fluid retention in lungs

2) Cough produces clear pale yellow mucus – due to viral infection, such as cold

3) Cough produces yellow or greenish mucus – cause may be chronic bronchitis or pneumonia.

4) If cough is associated with wheezing and shortness of breath – reason could be asthma.

5) Fever, chills and night sweats along with chest pain when you cough – the cause may be tuberculosis

6) If lung cancer or a cancer of the air passages is present, one may cough up blood. Other symptoms that may point towards a cancer include increasing fatigue, loss of appetite, unexplained loss of weight, or decreased ability to swallow solid or liquid foods.

Treatment –

Coughs can be treated with cough medications. Dry coughs are treated with cough suppressants that reduce the urge to cough, while productive coughs (coughs that produce phlegm) are treated with expectorants that loosen mucus from the respiratory tract.

Antihistamines and decongestants are a good choice for treating coughs associated with post nasal drip.
If some underlying disease is causing the cough, treatment should first be based on treating the underlying disease.

A recent study indicates that, because of the presence of theobromine in chocolate, a bar of dark chocolate may be an effective treatment for a persistent cough.

Gargling with salt and warm water is also very helpful by cutting phlegm and reducing inflammation. Dissolve 1/2 teaspoon table salt in 1/2 cup warm water, and gargle every three to four hours.

Some Useful Home Remedies for Cough

Symptoms of cough usually subside on their own with 7-10 days. However, lot of simple home remedies are there which provide relief from the discomfort associated with it.

1) Take three peppercorns, and add a pinch of black cumin seeds and rock salt and consume it.

2) Drink hot milk with honey at bedtime for cough relief.

3) Make a decoction by boiling 50 grams fresh ginger with 5 tablespoon sugar in 2 glasses water for 30 minutes. Drink it hot, twice a day, in one day as this is very effective Home Remedy for Cough.

4) Mix powdered cinnamon, lemon juice and honey. Take two teaspoon twice daily.

5) In one cup of warm milk, add a pinch of turmeric powder (Haldi) and drink twice a day.

6) Mix half a teaspoon of tulsi juice with half a teaspoon of ginger juice. Add 1 teaspoon of honey. Take the above mixture 2-3 times a day. This is also useful Home Remedy for Cough

7) Prepare a mixture by adding 1/2 teaspoon honey with 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice and take it every 12 hours. Honey relieves the itchiness by moistening the throat passage.

8) Mix 8 - 10 tablespoon of coconut milk with 1 tablespoon poppy seed (powdered) and 1 tablespoon of pure honey. Take this every night before going to bed. This remedy is very good Home Remedy for Cough

9) Garlic-onion-chicken soup is an effective remedy for cough. Take it steaming hot, to give relief to irritation in throat.

Acne and Its Causes

September 26th 2008 13:58
By: Jenna Adbey

When you think of acne, most people tend to link it to adolescence. However, what you may not realize is that many adults also suffer from the condition and it can cause a lot of shame and embarrassment.

There are a number of theories on why people suffer from acne, but what are the true causes - and can it actually be prevented?

Understanding Acne

Acne is a term used to describe the presence of reddish spots on the skin. It can be unpleasant to look at and it can cause a lot of embarrassment to those who suffer from the condition.

Scientifically it is initiated by blocked hair follicles. It is thought that the follicles become blocked after abnormal flaking of the cells occurs. The blocked follicle then enlarges and ruptures, which causes oil to leak out into the skin. This causes a swelling and inflammation occurs which is what gives the spots their red color.

The true cause of acne is not actually known. However there are many theories as to what could contribute to the condition.

Hormones, Stress and Bacteria

The most commonly accepted theory is that acne is caused by hormones. This is especially the case in adolescents where acne flares up and then disappears as the person ages. More specifically it is the hormones known as androgens that are thought to be to blame and they are what cause the sebaceous glands to over-stimulate and produce more oil. These hormones are also thought to be to blame for women who develop acne during their period. It is the extra oil produced by the sebaceous glands that mixes with dead skin cells and bacteria and which blocks the pores, causing acne.

Another prevalent theory is that stress can play a big part in acne. This is because when we are stressed, our bodies produce certain hormones like cortisol - which is well known to aggravate acne. So whilst stress is not thought to directly cause acne, it can actually make the condition worse.

Bacteria may also influence the appearance of acne on one's skin. More specifically, it is the bacteria known as "Propionibacterium acne" that is thought to be the problem. This is because they produce a certain substance which can cause redness as well as irritation to the skin. The enzymes which they create can also cause irritation because they dissolve the sebum.

Although nobody knows the true cause of acne, the above mentioned are just three factors which are thought to contribute to the problem.

Two Common Acne Myths

One thing which many people believe when it comes to the cause of acne is that it is caused by a lack of hygiene. Dirt and cleanliness have been linked many times to the condition, but in fact they have nothing to do with causing acne. If you look at it logically, it is easy to see why people would assume that acne is caused by dirt. After all the condition occurs when the pores are blocked and so if you have dirt build up on the skin, it could block the pores. However, it will not cause acne.

Another common myth is that you can catch acne. It is in no way contagious, though obviously with any spots on the skin it is not advisable to pick them or touch other areas of the skin after you have touched the acne. This is just common sense and it is general hygiene which you should follow.

Hopefully you now have a better understanding of the causes of acne and the truth behind some of the myths.

September 22nd 2008 14:18
By: Andy Bowen

Introduction Mesothelioma is a cancer which affects the tissue which surrounds and protects various organs in the body. This tissue is called the Mesothelium, and Mesothelioma causes it to become abnormal, divide without control, and invade and damage nearby organs. The most common form is pleural mesothelioma which affects the sac that lines the chest cavity and protects the lungs (the pleura). Other forms are peritoneum mesothelioma (which affects the abdominal cavity) and pericardium mesothelioma (affecting the lining around the heart). The tumours can be either benign (non-cancerous) or malignant (cancerous) although they are most often malignant

Dealing With Parental Stress

September 22nd 2008 14:11
By: Trevor Dumbleton

One of the biggest problems with having children is the remarkable fact that they tend to be the source of parental stress. This is, obviously, the unique stress that comes from being a parent and having to worry about the fact that your kids are growing up, learning new things, living their lives their own way, and -- all too often -- figuring out things the hard way. In addition, you have to worry about your kids making the right decisions, staying out of trouble, and just generally turning into human beings just like you. Needless to say, this tends to create a lot of parental stress

Herbal Teas for Better Health

September 20th 2008 05:27
By: Leanne Holcomb

Herbal teas, as well as being pleasurable to drink, can be used as a preventative measure. If drunk regularly, they can help to tone and balance the body. The transition to herbal tea (from your regular caffeinated tea or coffee) can be gradual. Lemon balm, lemon thyme, lemon verbena, apple mint, and peppermint all make incredibly delicious teas and also add lovely flavor to otherwise less than pleasant herbal preparations. Try to drink 3 cups of herbal tea every day, after meals (to prevent interference with gastric juices and hinder proper digestion). Sweeten your herbal tea with honey or sugar if you like. A slice of lemon or orange is another tasty addition. Here are a few common herbs for tea preparations, with associated indications

Colon cleansing is an excellent way to improve your health and lose weight naturally. It has also started becoming quite popular in recent years because it can have such a positive effect on your overall health, and there are excellent home remedies and diets which can help you lose weight quickly using colon cleansing techniques.

Colon cleansing isn't for everyone, and if you're new to the concept it may seem a bit gross and strange. In general though, there are two common ways to do a colon cleanse: The first is to use enemas to flush toxins and waste out of your colon; and the second is to use herbs, recipes and remedies which cause your body to flush itself out naturally via standard elimination methods

Your pores get blocked and they need to be opened up. But it's important to remember that you should never treat your face to anything that's based on chemicals. Is Stress Such a Big Thing (part One)?

September 13th 2008 05:29
Author: Andrew Tomkinson

Stress is what our minds and bodies experience as we attempt to deal with the changing environment that affects our lives. We often think of pressure at work, queuing for services or rush hour traffic as stress. While these events may well be triggers, stress is actually the body's reaction to such factors and is activated by adrenaline and other stress hormones, which stimulate a variety of physiological changes. These changes include increased heart rate, blood pressure, faster breathing, muscle tension, dilated pupils, dry mouth and an increased blood sugar level. Stress is the increased stimulation that the body needs in order to defend itself when faced with danger

Medicinal Values of Green Tea

Author: Lesley Lyon

Green tea is believed to be in use as a medicine for at least 4000 years in china. It is also believed that green tea lowers the cholesterol levels by increasing the good cholesterol and decreasing the bad cholesterol. Green tea is rich in antioxidant called epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG) .It destroys cancer cells and also inhibits the growth of cancer cells. Even though the French people consume diet rich in fat, they are less prone to heart attack than the Americans. Similarly, even though 75 percent of the Japanese are smokers, they are less affected. This is because EGCG is more in green tea used by them. It acts as a protective agent against premature death from heart attack and cancer

Oriental therapeutic devices like acupuncture have long been in practice in the east. With the advent of globalization and heightened disorders amongst populations all over the world, western science is making space for eastern curative measures as they are often proving to be effective enough to be tried regularly. The additional advantage of something like, let’s say, acupuncture is that it does not require intake of chemicals and can treat a wide variety of things ranging from stress to emotional duress.

This process of acupuncture requires particular regions of the body being pierced gently with long needles. The process can be executed in different ways depending on the angle of the insertion and the type of needle used. This way it can yield positive results in the treatment of many an ailment. The idea is to cleanse one’s body and inscribe some positive energy in it
