One word of caution, however. Over 300 pesticides, herbicides, and fungicides are used in tea production around the world, and far too little information is offered about what's in the teas we buy -- the "organic" label is not enough. One laudable exception in the North American market is the Boston Tea Campaign, whose organic Darjeelings are tested for chemical residues by its German parent company, Teekampagne, with the results published on each package. Being a high-end supplier for tea aficionados, they only sell loose teas, not tea bags. But their green Darjeeling is delicious (and very affordable).
