Many people, most especially the body builders drink protein shakes as they believe that protein supplements help them build their muscles faster while working out. Protein shakes are also very refreshing to the body and a good thirst quencher right after that long workout session. Protein shakes come in different flavors such as strawberry, soya, chocolate and many more. The nutrient contents they contain may also differ in quantity. Some protein shakes may also contain carbohydrates.

Protein shakes are mostly used by many people most especially by those who want to lose weight. It is mostly used as a food replacement in order to promote weight loss

faster. There are some shakes that are prepared to help curb hunger and help boost one's metabolism. Some protein shakes may also contain other minerals and vitamins that would help strengthen the body's immune system and will help the body fight off free radicals from the body.

Protein is also one of the nutrients of the body that is a very important component of the cells. It is a very essential nutrient of our hair and nails as they are mostly made of it. It helps to build and rebuild tissues of the body and is very important nutrient for the skin, blood, muscles and bones.

Protein is classified as a "macronutrient" which means it is needed by the body in large amounts. The body does not store protein so it is necessary to have a regular intake of it which can be found from the foods we eat like fish, lean meat, nuts among others.

It is important to note though that in order to build muscles faster, regular exercise is also necessary. Exercise supplemented by protein will help you achieve your goal faster.
