Home Remedies for Warts

October 10th 2011 14:16
Warts on our skin and any part of our body gives us a very uncomfortable condition. It becomes itchy most of the time and its also embarrassing if we have them on our face. As we grow older, the warts on our face and other parts of the body increases. Most warts are itchy and we wish we can remove them as soon as possible, however, it is expensive to have them removed through our dermatologist so many people just leave them alone.

Warts are caused by slow-acting viruses on the skin which are called HPV (human papilloma virus). These are small benign growths anywhere in the body but are mostly found on the face, skin around the nails, hands, forearms, knees, fingers and elbows. They appear either only one or in clusters.

If you don't have a budget to go to your dermatologist or wart removal clinics, you can try some of the home remedies that may help you lessen or even remove your warts. One way to remove warts is by using a lemon juice. Applying lemon juice to the warts a few times in a day is proven to be effective in removing warts as per testimony of people who have tried it before. You can search on them in online forums, beauty and health blogs. In an article at www.livestrong.com entitled, "How to Use Lemon Juice to Remove Warts", it is stated that immersing a cotton ball in a bowl of freshly squeezed lemon juice and applying and pressing it to the warts for a few seconds about three to four times a day will dissolve the wart or make it turn black. After a few days, the wart will fall off completely.

Fresh aloe juice is also believed to help dissolve warts as well as pineapple juice, banana peel, figs and papaya. They contain enzymes that help dissolve warts in a cheaper and safer manner.

Sneaking Healthy into Food

August 15th 2011 11:13
Many families struggle with healthy eating for a variety of reasons; one of the biggest reasons is resistance to certain foods. Our palates become accustomed to those things we eat most often, so some people prefer lots of salt, sugar, and unhealthy fats. The good news is that it’s possible to retrain your palate to actually like those foods that are good for you. For optimal health, it is vital to get your fill of lean protein, whole grains, and lots of fruits and vegetables. If you cannot get your family to eat what they should (yet) it is your solemn duty to sneak the good stuff in on them!

Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits are pretty easy, because almost everybody likes the way they taste. Sometimes it is as simple as being sure there is a bowl full of cut fruit in the refrigerator all the time. You can also toss assorted fruits in your blender with ice and some juice to make a great smoothie. But why stop there when you can actually blend in some vegetables, too? No one will be the wiser if they don’t see it done. You can also purchase juice and vegetable blends now that taste like pure fruit juice, so those should also be handy, too.

You can also chop all sorts of veggies really fine and add them to meatloaf, chili, stews, soups, and sloppy joe mixtures. When making lasagna, add some fresh chopped spinach, or use thinly sliced eggplant to replace some of the noodles. If you’ve never made, or tried, eggplant parmesan, you should make it a point to do, as you can replace veal or chicken and most people love it. Be sure to add lots of crunchy vegetables to your sandwiches, eat a salad or two each week, and also snack on baby carrots and celery sticks instead of candy bars and cookies. Use apple sauce to replace oil in cake recipes, and make your carrot cake with lots of shredded carrots, pineapple, and raisins.

Lean Protein

Juicy steaks and burgers are wonderful, but they are also very high in fat and calories so should be eaten sparingly. Instead, opt for chicken and turkey, both whole and ground and save the steak for special occasions. Swap out your yogurt for the Greek kind that is very high in protein. Egg whites are a good source of lean protein, as are tuna and other fish, and also cottage cheese. You can sneak ground turkey into just about any recipe that calls for ground beef without sacrificing taste. When cooking, use oils that have no trans-fats: olive oil and canola oil are best.

Whole Grains

The new whole grain white bread varieties will help to convert even the biggest white bread fan. These breads are good and nutritious but similar in taste to the white bread everyone is used to—even kids like it.

Buy whole grain cereals and add fruit and lowfat milk for a healthy breakfast. You can add oat bran to many foods without altering the taste; I mix it into yogurt, smoothies, and shakes, not to mention soups and stews. You can buy it at the supermarket or simply pulse some oatmeal in your food processor till it’s fine but not powdered.

Health Benefits of Tomatoes

July 21st 2011 16:30
When I was a child, my mom would always see to it that we have fresh tomatoes at home. My siblings and I loved eating sliced fresh tomatoes almost everyday. I love the not so ripe ones though while my siblings love the ripe ones. At that time, eating tomato for me was just part of a good meal. However, when I grew older, I learned that my mom had a very good reason why she introduced tomatoes in our daily diet.

In this process, there is a subject and a person who controls the subject. The subject is then delivered with hypnotic suggestions by the hypnotist. On the other hand, self-hypnosis is a kind of hypnosis which is self-induced. In this one, the suggestions come from yourself. The Dangers of Softdrinks

May 6th 2011 16:36
Almost all of us love to drink softdrinks. It is a great thirst quencher. It satisfies our thirst. However, we also hear many times that softdrinks are not good for our body. Here are some of the reasons why.

We all know that one of the main contents of softdrinks is caffeine. Softdrinks contain lesser caffeine than energy drinks or coffee but this is still not an excuse to drink softdrinks in bigger amounts. Whether big content or small content, caffeine is still caffeine. This substance is an addictive agent. No wonder why as we drink more and more softdrinks, we tend to crave for it more. Caffeine in the body has temporary effects of body stimulation and increased heart rate which results to remove fatigue and gives mental alertness. However, according to www.emedexpert.com, high doses of caffeine in the body causes mild to life threatening health problems like irritability, insomnia, excessive urination, high blood pressure, irregular heart beat and many more

A Second Chance at Life

April 17th 2011 11:01
Nowadays, we hear so many stories of young adults who have committed suicide or have been caught by police officers due to drank driving or a party that went overboard. More and more similar cases are being reported daily. If you are a famous celebrity, then it becomes headlines. However, there are many more cases that are not reported.

Teen addiction is a very dangerous stage that our teenagers go through. This can be avoided if parents are always there for their children. A constant follow-up and check-up on their children's activities is necessary. Some kids may hate you for this but if you have a heart-to-heart talk with them and tell them the reason why you are doing this, they will always understand. However, many parents cannot do this anymore because they have to work for the family's needs and oftentimes they replace their presence at home with materials thing. Our house should be a home. Parents should maintain a wholesome relationship with their kids and make their home a place their kids would love to come home to

Prior to undergoing a gastric bypass surgery, a patient must be wholly educated of the indication, benefits, complications as well as the risks of the procedure in order to arrive at an informed decision and feel a sense of control during the surgery. This procedure is generally safe, but it pays to understand gastric bypass surgery risks before going under the knife. Risks don’t necessarily mean these dangers will occur. Depending on the patient’s body’s reaction to the surgery, as well as the skills and equipment of the surgeon, risks may be great or very minimal. Educating a patient on gastric bypass surgery risks will simply help them be aware and prepare better for the procedure.
