We love eating. It is one of the things that we really enjoy doing. Most of the time, our family gather and we love having a little feast or barbeque party. Even if we want to be on a diet, most of the time we set it aside as we just can't control ourselves. It is important to know that some of the foods we eat have high uric acid content that is harmful to our body.
What are the dangers of uric acid to the body? Is it life-threatening? Too much uric acid in the body may develop the disease called gout. The high levels of uric acid in the body is called hyperuricemia. Complications of this condition may lead to kidney damage, diabetes mellitus, joint deformation, atherosclerosis and hypertension. Is it life threatening? Yes. When your kidneys become damaged, the body loses its capacity to eliminate waste and the production of red blood cells in the body. Diabetes mellitus may result to body parts amputation, inability of the body organs to function properly and blindness, among others.
Uric acid is a by-product of purine and purine can be found in the foods we eat such as meat, foods which contain yeast, some seafoods like shrimps, lobster, salmon and tuna, some vegetables like spinach, asparagus and cauliflower. Caffeine and alcohol also increases the uric acid levels of the body.
Start eating healthy. Gout and other disease which results from high uric acid levels in the body may be avoided if we educate ourselves of the foods that we should eat in lesser amounts or even avoid eating.
